Welcome to the Nurse’s office!

The Nurse’s office (room 015) is located on the ground floor of the main building just a few doors down from the school office. My office hours are Monday-Friday from 08:30 till 17:00.

My purpose is to notify, educate, and provide first care in a safe welcoming environment to the students, faculty and visitors of our school.

Please feel free to stop by to discuss any questions or concerns regarding your child.

When should my child stay home from school?

It is often difficult to make a decision about whether or not your child is sick enough to stay at home.  Many illnesses are easily spread, both in school and in the family.  While we regret any inconvenience that this may cause, keeping sick children at home means fewer lost work days/ school days, for parents, teachers, and children and less illness for everyone.

FEVER – 100ºF/ 38ºC or higher

A fever is a sign of illness. A child with a temperature of 38ºC or higher should not attend school.

VOMITING (ERBRECHEN) / DIARRHOEA (DURCHFALL)

A child who is vomiting and/or is having frequent diarrhea stools should not attend school. If there is cramping/abdominal pain, the student may be more comfortable at home.

SORE THROAT / COLDS / COUGH

Minor cold symptoms are common and usually don’t interfere with school attendance. A persistent, frequent cough and/or constant nasal drainage may affect your child’s performance at school, and he/she may be more comfortable at home.

RASH

A rash may cover the entire body or only one area. A child that has a rash that is draining, has open areas or is causing the child to itch excessively should not attend school. A rash accompanied with other symptoms such as; a fever, headache, sore throat, irritability, vomiting, etc. should not attend school.

THICK MUCUS IN NOSE OR EYES  / CRUSTY, RED, “WEEPY” EYES

A child who has conjunctivitis should refrain from attending school, as it is highly contagious.  People can get conjunctivitis just by touching or using something that has been infected by a person who has the eye infection

SUSPICION OF HEAD LICE / SUSPICION OF CONTAGIOUS INFECTION

Chicken pox, Scarlet fever, Fifth disease, Influenza, Meningitis, Rubella, etc.
