It is difficult to come to Leipzig and ignore its rich historical, musical and artistic heritage.
Indeed Leipzig hosted some of the most famous personalities, to cite few: Martin Luther preached at St. Thomas Church, where later Johann Sebastian Bach worked musical director and choirmaster.
Johann Wolfgang Goethe studied at the University of Leipzig and was inspired by the moments he spent in the Auerbach’s Cellar to use the location it in his drama Faust.
Richard Wagner was born in Leipzig; Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Robert Schumann had a prominent impact in the musical history of the city.
