Get your copy! LIS Chronicle: The first twenty years

Leipzig International School celebrated its 20th anniversary in April. Coincident with this...

Leipzig International School celebrated its 20th anniversary in April. Coincident with this celebration, we will publish a book on the history of the school to date.
A lot has happened at LIS since it started 20 years ago with only three children and two teachers in a villa in Leipzig Gohlis. Three years later the number of students had already grown to 43 and new school premises were found in Leipzig Grünau which also proofed to be too small soon. So ten years ago LIS moved to Könneritzstraße and shared the building with a German Gymnasium for the first years before the big renovation. For an interim period we found a home in Schönefeld until we could finally move back to our premises in 2007. At the moment we have almost 700 students and 90 employees and we are still expanding and growing.
As you can see, it was time to look back; we collected stories, anecdotes and big moments and put them together in a LIS chronicle.
This LIS chronicle “20 years of LIS – Coming of Age” is now on sale. You can get your copy at the reception desk at school from 10:00 – 17:00. All proceeds go to the school respectively to our students:
Price: 20 EUR

The Book Team is back!

Many of you will remember the Book Team, who used to come once or twice a year to LIS and set up a book fair in cafeteria. While we missed them in 2010/2011, they will be back on Thursday, March 29 from 10:00 to 16:40. They bring a wide range of English language books for all ages, from toddler’s first board books to a selection of adult fiction and non-fiction titles. Children, teachers and parents are free to browse their stock and purchase directly from display. Classes are invited to visit with their teachers in order to make purchases or (for those without money) to put a couple of books aside and show a parent or guardian at the end of the school day.
Happy reading!
