Physical Education (P.E.)

LIS Primary students follow a sequential co-educational curriculum entitled the Complete Physical Education Activities Program (CPEP). The CPEP curriculum meets the requirements as a delivery system and resource for current P.E. curricula in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Its primary objectives are:

  • to foster in a children a love of physical activity and play
  • to teach a need for physical fitness in each child
  • to develop coordination and gross motor skills
  • to give students as wide a skill and games experience as possible
  • to develop a sense of fair play and cooperation and the ability to work in groups
  • to provide experiences which will develop initiative, self-worth, honesty, and kindness

Special attention is given to (a) social interaction and the improvement of self-confidence, cooperation, and sportsmanship; (b) fitness and skills development; and (c) acquisition of basic fundamentals through conceptual learning. Primary students attend PE one day per week for 90 minutes. Students develop skill competency in a variety of skills both in the gym and outside.
