At LIS we teach art by following schemes of work from the British Q.C.A (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.) This is supplemented by artwork done throughout the year linked to other parts of the school curriculum. From Pre-School 3 to Grade 5 children learn and consolidate skills in all disciplines of art whilst working with a variety of media. They learn about colour, texture, shape, form and composition whilst learning how to use paint, printmaking, sculpture, pastel, inks and collage, to name just a few.
Children are introduced to the work of a variety of artists as well as artistic movements through their learning in each unit. In addition, they are often given the opportunity to experience art around them as part of field trips and visits to museums and galleries.
