PRE-SCHOOL

“Play sets the stage for learning"

The aim in our Pre-School is to provide a high quality education for 3 – 6 year-old children from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. The Early Years are distinctive in several ways. Children develop rapidly during this time – physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. For many children, these years mark the first transition from home to social experience outside of the home and to a new physical environment. We strive to make this adjustment as smooth and successful as possible by encouraging the development of a secure and trusting relationship with new adults and peers.

We want our children to:

  • accept the Pre-School as a secure environment and as an extension of home
  • develop awareness of their own culture and to accept other cultures
  • integrate and become a member of the group
  • develop self-confidence and independence
  • make choices and take decisions
  • become explorers and enquirers
  • develop creativity
  • develop their oral language and basic literacy skills
  • acquire the English language in a safe, structured, communicative setting
  • enjoy learning

Children are accepted from the age of three onwards and should be able to:

  • dress and undress (also outdoor clothes and shoes)
  • go to the toilet independently
  • wash and dry hands independently

To ensure that the children will learn and thrive from lessons especially developed for their age, the Pre-School is divided into age groups:

  • Pre-School 1: (3-4 year old children)
  • Pre-School 2: (4-5 year old children)
  • Pre-School 3: (5-6 year old children)
